July 2nd - Day 20
Today we passed the 4,000 mile mark on our adventure, driving through western New York on our way to Harrisburg, PA. As with other days, it is always better to adventure with friends, even if it is just driving 5+ hours in a day.
We’re all looking forward to the next few days, just hanging out with our good friends the Mucci’s at their home in Harrisburg.
Here are a few highlights of the day:
With three vehicles driving south from Niagara to Harrisburg, we divided up the kids. Having the RV, 5 of the 8 kids joined me for the drive today (Becca rode with Mandy & the other 3). I just put my headphones in and let the kids be kids together.
Once again, I followed Google Maps while driving, and it took me off the highways and onto very rural roads for short bit. At least these roads were paved…
Obadiah has been somewhat challenging this trip with his siblings, but he has found his best bud in Callie - playing well together, gentle hugs, etc. It certainly reminds us of how Elias and Mia were together when they were little.
Today marked two weeks since I last wore shoes. I have exclusively been wearing Birkenstocks (I won’t say how many different pairs I brought on the trip, but the all of have purpose). I’m hoping I can go at least another two weeks before wearing shoes again.
