July 15 - Day 33

As I have previously mentioned, before we left on our trip if you asked anyone of our kids what they were looking forward to most, they would say it was to see their good friends; the Muccis in Pennsylvania and the Brames in Texas. Today we finally got to see the Brames. They moved to Texas about 4 years ago and we have all visited at different times, but it has been since pre-Covid since most of us have seen their family in person. We were certainly due for a visit.

We first met the Brames about 9 years ago when Aubrey was a kindergartener at Woodlawn. After school one day Becca took the kids to the park to play. She saw another mom there with 4 young kids, and she struck up a conversation. That mother was Kim Brame, who is now one of Becca’s best friends. And those little kids playing on the playground are now some of our kids best friends.

A few highlights/memorable moments from the day:

  • We ended our time in Little Rock with another nice breakfast courtesy of Uncle Wayne and Aunt Mari, and plenty of goodbye hugs. Becca is thankful the kids to now have memories with the Aunt who faithfully sends them gifts.

  • With the RV, most everything runs off of the electrical system. However, there are a few things that require propone - heater, stove, and the fridge when we are not plugged in to outside power. We filled the propone tank up on day #1, but have not since. For the last week though, I’ve been trying to find a place to fill it up. It is a little more difficult as the tank is located underneath the RV and I need to be able to pull up to have it filled. Before we left Little Rock this morning, I found a propane company and called to verify they were open and I could fill it up there. We then drove 20 minutes out of our way to do so. When we arrived, we were greeted by a “closed” sign. I called back and then was told that they operator of that store was on vacation until next week. Apparently, the folks that answer their phones, don’t know what stores are open and what ones are not. I guess filling up with propane will be tomorrow’s problem.

  • We drove today from Little Rock, AR to Lancaster, TX, which is just south of Dallas proper. This was about a 5 hour drive. Becca, who is always wanting to be productive, not just made everyone lunch, but also wrapped gifts for the Brames, washed dishes, and even exercised with the hand weights we brought with us. She’s certainly getting this RV life figured out.

  • When we arrived at the Brames, we were greeted with a welcoming crew. Our kids quickly jumped out of the RV and their kids quickly ran out to the RV. It already seems like it is going to be a great weekend here in Dallas.
