August 4th - Day 53
As I mentioned yesterday, 4 of 6 of us ended up testing positive for COVID. It was bound to happen given our extensive travel; yet since the start of COVID, this is actually the first time that anyone in our family has tested positive. We feel fortunate that our symptoms are minor (mostly head congestion) and that we can still safely go and see a number of places (outdoors).
Our original plan for today was to spend the day at LegoLand in Carlsbad, CA, but due to COVID, we decided it would not be wise. I’ve heard that amusement parks can be crowded during the summer. ;) Instead we found other outdoor activities in non-crowded places.
A few memorable moments from the day:
Since our original plans were hijacked, we were in no hurry to leave this morning and I took full advantage it. I got some work in while Obadiah played in the dirt, and Becca and the older kids cleaned some of the inside of the RV.
We drove north along the Pacific Coast Highway to Reef Point at Crystal Cove (just south of Newport, CA). We were able to get in some beach time and stay far away from anyone else. It wasn’t the same as Legoland, but it was significantly better than just sitting in the RV.
Our plan had been to head over to Chino Hills and spend a long weekend with Becca’s aunt and uncle who live there. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your perspective, we were able to keep these plans. They both tested positive for COVID last week and have been at home recovering. We will just be joining them in recovering together for the next few days.
